Chandler's Britain Campaign For Respect

As was pointed out to me a few days ago, it has been a very long time since i last posted and as i sit at the computer listening to Spotify, the urge to post and rant has returned!

I may only be 19 but certian things annoy me about people my age, We as a generation have a tendancy to swear out loud in public, we get drunk till the cows come home, we have sex with as many people as we can before the age of 23 and we most certianly have to have used a fake I.D at some point in our life!

Why? All that i have said is basicaly the result of a lack of respect that has developed for our country and authority. For some reason we now dont care about important things but spend our money on Drink and we look out for the cheapest and stupid (Stupid because they allow under age) Pubs and clubs. I feel sorry for owners of pubs and barmen and women, some of the girls these days could be 21 when in fact they are actually 15...Its just all wrong!

So what am i getting at? Respect needs to be found again and quickly! We do not need to swear out in the streets because guess what there is a thing called the English Language and it has a thousand different words that we can use! Getting drunk? its apparently a away to losen up? well you can have fun without forgetting the night before and ending up in someplace you have never seen!

We need to respect our Country, Life, Body and Authority because without them everything would suck alot!

Can The Season End Now?

Every year since i became a proper die-hard Spurs fan (2002-2003) most seasons have started with high expectations and followed by a season of disappointment, with a sacked manager and a new cause for optimism with a new manager and new players. Last season was very much the same with Juande Ramos being awful and King 'Arry being appointed, and since then we have been on the up.

Would this season be the same? No is the great big fat answer the Spurs players gave us with a A-MAZ-ING win over Liverpool (we out played them) and then thrashing Hull 5-1! What a Start!

After two games (yes i know its only two) we have 6 points...it took us until October to do that last season and we lead the League! TOTTENHAM LEAD THE LEAGUE! Can we break into the top four this season? I'm not sure but i reckon a fantastic season is ahead of us!

Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur!

It Begins (Again!!!)

After a summer of waiting and expectation the new premier league season starts tomorrow. Will Manchester United miss Ronaldo (yes), will arsenal fall even further behind the leading teams (Yes) and will Tottenham continue to frustrate yet improve (YES!..possibly).

This is what makes football so amazing, the emotion, the intensity of a derby match, the banter, the rumours, this is what football is about and for fans of Manchester City it means they finaly find out how badly buying so many good players and expecting them to play as a team will fail!

How will City do? i expect they will finnish in the top 5 at least, they may struggle but they have the money and so in january if it is not working they can buy a Xavi or Iniesta.

Personaly i can see Chelsea winning the league this year, a good manager and without the loss of a key player such as Ronaldo and Tevez for Manchester United and Xavi Alonso for Liverpool will help them and also a team that bar a few players is basicaly the same that won the F.A Cup last season.

So here are my predictions (They will be wrong but oh well)

Champions - Chelsea

League Cup - West Ham United

F.A Cup - Tottenham Hotspur

Champions League - Real Madrid

Europa League - Who Cares! (SV Werder Bremen!)

European Qualifying Places

1st. Chelsea

2nd. Manchester United

3rd. Liverpool

4th. Manchester City (Possibly)

5th. Arsenal

6th. Everton

7th. Tottenham Hotspur

Relegated - Birmingham, Hull, Wolves

Promoted - Cardiff, Middlesbrough, West Brom

Quite possibly every single prediction i have made will prove to be wrong but if im right i can bask in a glory that no one cares about!

Beauty? Its On The Inside!

A couple of days ago i had a massive feeling of ranting building up inside of me, i seem to remember getting worked up about the general feeling of if your not beautiful you will get no where in life. Now i cant for the life of me think why i had to rant about it or why it even crossed my mind? Maybe i saw a model on TV... but thinking about it more it does seem very un-fair and also not true.

Take school, most of the time the most popular people at school are either the most confident people or the most beautiful, this is not always the case but you usually find a popular person with one of those attributes (sometimes you find a popular person who is beautiful, confident and has a very squeaky voice...they may be attractive but also very annoying) and of course they have the biggest number of 'friends' on Facebook and also manage to make fake Id's work better then anyone else but this is not a passport to a great and happy life.

I was not a popular person at school and i was not friends with any of the popular people, but i had my group of friends and i treasured them! I don't care if they are beautiful, confident, have an annoying voice and are good at sports (that was another thing that made you popular...cant see Tim Henman being popular at school but anyway) they were my friends because they liked me for who i was and i liked them for who there were (plus they paid me....sorry bad joke) and thanks to them i have friends for life, and i know for a fact i will not fall out because i have the same shirt or have the same girlfriend!

I was also going to go on and on and on about celebrities but i think i have made my point, we obviously can look good, and its good when we do, but being 'beautiful' does not mean success in life, however it can mean having loads of annoying, screaming, squeaky voice girls running after you at a concert and rolling about on the hood of Whitesnakes car....what a life.

(I do actually like Whitesnake, but having a girl on the bonnet would either damage the paint work or fall off and sue you!)

The Transfer Market Has Gone Crazy

I remember sitting here a couple of weeks ago thinking that the usual rush of early purchases by Football Clubs. Usualy there is a couple of big name buys early on and a few random players who no one has ever heard of.

But now it has all kicked off in a big way and its not (or wasent at least) Manchester City leading the way. Real Madrid not happy with breaking the world transfer record after buy Kaka, destroyed there own record by buying Cristiano Ronaldo for £80,000,000! Personaly that for me is a bit much for a player who spends most of his time rolling around on the floor crying then just to be even more annoying scores a few goals along the way.

Not happy with this either Real have also signed (using slightly more humain money) Raul Albiol (A promising looking defender from Valencia) and Karim Benzema, a target for Manchester United (HAHAHA!).

Back in England Manchester City signed Gareth Barry and Roque Santa Cruz, and now Carlos Tevez and are expected to sign Emmanuel Adebayor (Who i think is a waste of space on any football pitch). Two players who could have been on there way to Spurs, Barry and Santa Cruz just incase you hadnt realised, sadly when to the new mega force in football.

In recent days Spurs have been linking with young defenders Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton and ex Arsenal Patirck Viera...now the transfer market has gone really crazy!

2009 So Far

As i sit here on the 15th of July 2009, i have been thinking about the year so far.

Obviously this year has been dominated by going on's down Whitehall and the Houses of Parliament. Having not been blessed with glory when the Credit Crunch then Recession hit us at the end of 2008, our trust and faith in Parliament was rocked when the Expenses Scandal hit us and shocked us.

When it was discovered that politicians had used tax-payers money for second homes, dodgy DVD's, Moat Cleaning and a Duck island/home everyone was outraged, and with voting for the European elections around the corner this heavily influenced the mind set of the voting British public.

Despite MP's pledging to pay back around £100,000, and admitting to taking advantage of the expense's system, i believe that for most people the damage is done and it will take alot of work and maybe a goverment who know what they are doing to repair the damage.

At least we have the legend that is Boris Johnson as Mayor Of London, he may be a wally but he is a 100% golden legend!

Proud To Be British

Having recently finished reading 'The Heart Of The Dales' by Gervase Phinn i was empty, i needed a book to fill the hole that had been left, so i picked up 'I Know You Got Soul' by Jeremy Clarkson, and what an interesting book it is!

So far i have read about the AK47, The Graf Zeppelin, Concorde and many other great and sometimes deadly machines that Jeremy Clarkson believes are more then just the work of some engineers.

One story that fully captivated me was the building and creation of the SS Great Britain, but more importantly the story of its creator...Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Brunel was born in Portsmouth on the 9th of April 1806 to Marc Isambard Brunel and Sophia Kingdom, as you can see his parents where original types so used there names for there son that would become one of the greatest engineers of all time and a man who was voted as the second greatest Britain in the BBC's public poll in 2002.

Brunel at the age of 20 was appointed chief assistant engineer of his fathers great project, The Themes Tunnel, which would go on and become the first tunnel to be built under water. Brunel's father had created a system for tunnels that is still used to day, most notably the Channel Tunnel.

Not only this, Isambard engineerd the Clifton Suspension Bridge, The Royal Albert Bridge, The Great Western Railway (GWR) and also spent a hell of alot of time and effort (ultimately unsuccessful) in the creation of the 'Atmospheric Railway' a idea that used vacuums and leather pulleys to power the trains.

However perhaps his most advanced creation was the SS Great Britain. The SS a unit of the Great Western Steamship Company. The SS was the first ocean going ship to combine the being built in Iron and using a screw propeller. When launched in 1843, she was the largest ocean going ship at the time, and perhaps also one of the most flawed.

It was not the quickest, the most comfortable or financially viable ship ever built. One ship that was built managed the journey from the UK to New York in an incredible 15 days, for me and for that time i find that amazing! But sadly the SS didn't manage as quickly.

After the SS had ended life as a ocean going ship, it was used between 1855 and 1858 as a troopship during the Crimean War and the Indian Mutiny. Sadly during its next use as a cargo ship for coal it was damaged almost beyond repair after a fire whipped through the ship. It was bought by the Falklands Island Company and used as a coal bunker until 1937, when it was towed to Sparrow Cove and left to rot.

Thankfully after many years of Restoration it is open to visitors down in the docks in Bristol, and visitors can marvel at the plain amazingness of a ship built by one of the greatest Britain's to have lived and a ship that was so many years ahead of its time!

If you ever thought history was boring...then think, how did we get to where we are today?
